Tiimiakatemia, United Kingdom

Super International Action Month

So much has happened in one month, I have travelled around UK and also outside of it! So here a bit taster what has really happened then!

First of all we had the first TA`s Global Innovation Challenge on 19th-20th of November where I was the project leader, but there was also at least one person from each Tiimiakatemia organizing it, which made it pretty interesting and more fun. And I can say it wasn`t always easy, but when we finally got everything together and we could get 5 countries, 8 unit`s and over 100 teampreneurs to participate to the event the feeling was pretty amazing. It was so good to see real networking and sharing ideas through Google Hangout. Of course there were many things we could have done better, but that’s the best part when we can start to think how to make everything even better on next year.

So right after that event I travelled from Newcastle to Hungary for long weekend, we had TALN (aka Tiimiakatemia Learning Network) meeting and then we had nice celebration of three year old Debrecen Tiimiakatemia. It was so great to meet all the team coaches from the network and share learning’s and thought about everything what`s happening at the moment. We also could create some next steps for Tiimiakatemia Australia what definitely made me very happy.

My traveling continued from Hungary straight to Bristol where we had Akatemia CIC meeting where we got all the new people together who are interested to start Tiimiakatemia in their Schools or University’s in future. That was really great and important step thinking what Akatemia wants to achieve in UK in future mission is to enable the creation of 10 university Team Academy programmes in the UK by 2020”!

One of those interested University`s was Falmouth University in very South of England, it`s mostly known about design and art, and about that they want to do things very differently! Tiimiakatemia degree is going to be their first business degree in whole University, which is going to be really great! So few weeks ago I also visited there and we organized taster day for younger students who could be interest to apply for the degree starting in September 2014. The day was success and people were really interested of it! And I love when teachers and parents are saying many times in these kind of events “may I apply, I would love that degree” It just makes me so happy! 😀

And I almost forgot one important thing, I was supposed to come back to Finland in end of January, but it starts to look like I will stay in UK until end of June, so it also means I am going to get my first big customer for my company, I will get few more months to practise my skills as a team coach and see the full year of first teampreneurs in Newcastle, I couldn`t be any more happier about all of this!

Lot of learning in short time!

One month has passed in UK and I can say I have enjoyed of every moment! I have found amazing new friends, started new hobby (gymnastics) and the work I do is so much fun!

This month has also helped me to understand my business goals better. What do I really want to do and how? I want to specialise and to become master of team learning and team coaching!

The challenge is how I make a product or service out of that and how do I sell it to people? And how people are even going to find me?

I took my first step toward that few days ago when I bought my own domain name www.dreamster.fi, so now I can start to create my own website, I am so excited of that!

And I am also so lucky that I get to train my skills as a team coach in Northumbia University at the moment, it´s also great to be part of the process, because everything is new in here and they are literally creating the degree as we go forward with this! So I am also learning how to adapt something like this to new environments like to other University´s or Company´s!

I also need more theory to reach my goals and actually I have found the passion to read again, I noticed that I need some action going on be able to read and to be able to put the knowledge right in the action! So at the moment I am working on with Visual Teams from David Sibbet and Innovate or Die from Jack Collis! And they are both very inspiring books, so I can recommend those to everyone!

First steps in UK

Less then three days behind in UK and my head is ready to blow up, but in a good way. It has been amazing to meet with Alison and Robert from Akatemia CIC to hear their history with Tiimiakatemia, plan coming autumn; how I can help them with the website, what´s the situation with new University´s and how I can help with them and one nice challenge is to think how can we empower the whole network to take part to the Global Entrepreneurship Week! Tiimiakatemia is something so revolutionary in entrepreneurship education so I don´t think there is an option that it´s not shown in there. 😀 http://www.unleashingideas.org/

And today I just had wonderful day in University of Westminster, they will start Tiimiakatemia program in their unit on 2014 but they already have many entrepreneurship courses going on. Jane Chang is doing just incredible work with the students, I was lucky I could take part to one of her classes today where they had to think about possible projects with their five person team and before next week they would have to find mentor from business world, when people were mostly shocked about that. And in the afternoon I could take part to her individual coaching  sessions with her business students. And actually tomorrow I will have meeting with few of the them, because I will be their mentor, how fascinating is that!

I also got some great news today from Newcastle and they have arranged room for me, I am just so thankful that I have got people around me who are so helpful and want to make this work. And it´s also great because I don´t have to worry anymore where to find roof on top of my head when I arrive on Monday. So I think I could not be any more happier girl at the moment! 😀

Newcastle here I come

It´s starting to become reality. In few weeks I am really moving to Newcastle for four months. It´s really crazy and I am super excited. Thanks to Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs program of funding, Akatemia CIC to be my host Entrepreneurs and University of Northumbria that I can locate in your space and to be part of your journey with Entrepreneurship program. It is going to be amazing to get into Tiimiakatemia life in UK, to understand how everything started in there, what´s happening now when first penguins has just started and how can we get even more people involved in future?

Even I am really going there, things are still in the process, I still don´t have flights or I don´t know where I will live. But something I have learned in Tiimiakatemia is to tolerate incompleteness. I believe those things will fall into places somehow, so I it does not help to stress about them, you just have to trust the process. But I still wish I have news to you soon about the details. 😀

Do we value friends enough?

Friends are like other family to us and this summer I have realized that they are even more important to me them I have thought. Whole last spring I traveled around the world and when I came back few months ago my friend was opening her house to me and here I have been leaving since. But I am still not leaving here permanently so I am kind of “homeless”, but it has been great, I have stayed in my other friends places, in my brothers place and also visited a lot more in my dad´s and mom´s places. And what makes it so great? I have been able to see my friends and family so much more then I would normally do and not only seeing but really spending time with them.

In few weeks I might be leaving to UK and it has woke me up, because the situation will be so different in there. I won´t know almost anyone there, there wont be my friends or family and actually I don´t even know where I will live there. I am not worried that I would not survive, just thinking how lonely it can be in beginning. I will miss everyone so much and I really hope my friends and family will come to visit me in there and I can then offer them a place to stay!

This picture is from yesterday when we had surprise good bye party to one of our friend who is leaving to study in UK for four years!

It wasn´t my time yet!

I believe all dreams can come true. Last months I have been dreaming about this assistant coach position in one University in UK and few days ago I heard I did not get that job! When you have worked so hard to reach some big goal, but it is still not enough, it just hurts so much.

But that also make me think was it just meant to go like that? My goal is still to become an awesome coach in one day, but maybe I´m not ready for it yet. I always remember that good coaching is about telling stories and those stories you get out of your experiences. When you want to coach about business, the stories must come from businesses where you have been at.

And now I understand that it was meant to go like this, because I am still going to UK for four and half months with Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs program as an entrepreneur and I get to work with Akatemia (http://www.akatemia.org.uk/) to get the great stories from business life in there. So when I get the opportunity´s to be coaching I can tell those stories out loud.

Visit in Tiimiakatemia Jyväskylä

Was so great to visit at Tiimiakatemia yesterday. Last time I was there was half an year ago, so when I graduated! The spirit is just amazing there, everyone has things to do, but still people always have time to sit down and change news and thoughts. In Finland the new team entrepreneurs, penguins as we call them are starting on Monday, so older team entrepreneurs and coaches were getting things ready for crazy Kick Off. The idea is confuse them totally, so they realize it´s not normal school where they are coming at. I think I have to go there on Monday to see how everything goes 😀

On Tiimiakatemia´s walls were hanging their values, which I really like, they are so powerful and inspiring!

Let´s get started!

Big things are happening in my life and I want to share them with you all. I did graduated in last December and after that I have traveled around the world, but now it´s time to get my hands back to work. My passion is to spread Tiimiakatemia (the coolest business education ever, check it out http://www.tiimiakatemia.fi) around the world and in one week I will know if I get to go to UK to be an assistant coach in one of the University´s where they will start the Team Entrepreneurship program. I could not be more excited and nervous, now we just have to wait until Thursday to see how the interview goes! 🙂

I also just started my own company called Dreamster, which helps me to make my dreams come true. I am still in very beginning and that why I wanted do start this blog, it will help me to realize what´s really happening and maybe someone else will get the inspiration from here to make their dreams come true too!
